What's Working
Leveraging the Tutor Base
People who already love LTB — peer fundraising campaigns, tutor-led outreach. The Stop the Summer Slide campaign raised ~$15K in April 2026. These folks are already bought in and willing to spread the word.
Re-engaging Past Donors
Reaching back out to people who've given before and rebuilding those relationships. Example: Eugenie gave $4,000 after one quick call.
Personal Outreach to Existing Supporters
Direct, personal communication with people who already know and support LTB. E.g. John Emurian gave his first donation after I launched the campaign and connected with him, even though he had already been connected to LTB for a while.
🚫 Not Really Working (But Some Things Still Could?)
Cold Calling Businesses
Outbound calls to companies with no existing relationship to LTB.
Cold Emailing Rich Tech People
Cold Outreaching Rich Yale People
Asking the Board
Requesting fundraising support or introductions from board members.
Asking Other Orgs for Introductions to Funders
Requesting warm introductions from peer nonprofit organizations to their funders.
Asking Engaged "Unable to Pay" Families to Pay
Reaching out to families who selected "unable to pay" but are super engaged with LTB, asking if they'd be willing to contribute.
In Progress — We'll See
Session Sponsors
Brands pay LTB for placement in tutoring sessions — a new earned revenue stream.
Selling Our Simby Setup to Other Nonprofits
Packaging and selling the AI assistant infrastructure we've built to other nonprofit organizations.
Grant Writing Interns
Bringing on unpaid grant writing interns to scale grant applications.
Paid Chapters
In discussion with Yale about starting a paid chapter model — university partners pay for the LTB chapter infrastructure which provides their students with a vetted, easy to use volunteer opportunity. Also kudos for the university for supporting kids in need.
Converting New April Donors to Monthly Donors
Turning the new donors who came in during April into recurring monthly supporters.
Increasing Revenue from "Unable to Pay" Families
Figuring out how to increase revenue from families who initially selected "unable to pay." My thought is they initially mark unable to pay because they don't know what value they're getting yet. Many of these families have Netflix or similar subscriptions and likely CAN pay something. But still in discussion, especially if we as an organization just want to do what's good for people and not ask them to pay...more to come.
Intimate Dinner Fundraising Event
An intimate dinner event with some wealthy folks from the LTB network.
